Many of God’s promises are stated in the past and present tense. Look at the promises below — these are all put in the past and present tense like it’s already happened or it’s a certain fact. We can believe them. We can claim them. We can declare them over our lives. But do we?
“LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.” ~Psalm 5:12
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” ~Jeremiah 29:11
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” ~Romans 5:8
“Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 8:39
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” ~Ephesians 1:3
All we must do is come into agreement and alignment with God. But you may not feel blessed today. You may be facing a lot of things in your family, be challenged with your finances, or with your health right now.
Your heart might be saying – “Yes, I want to trust in these promises,” but your mind is saying, “This isn’t for me. No way I’m blessed. My life is just too messed up right now.”
Your challenge is not allowing your challenges to overshadow who God is and what He has already spoken and declared over His people.
You must become bold and say,
“Father God, I am who you say I am. I have what you say I have. I can do what you say I can do.”
You must find the courage to declare, even when your feelings are saying otherwise or your mind is playing tricks on you,
“Lord, if You say I’m blessed then I believe I’m blessed. My bank account may not say I’m blessed. The economy doesn’t say I’m blessed. The medical report doesn’t say I’m blessed. But God, I know You have the ultimate authority. And since You say I’m blessed, then I am blessed.”
When you get in agreement with God like that, it allows Him to release the promises that already have your name on them. Remember a closed fist cannot receive like an open hand no matter the good intentions and will of the Giver.
Your challenge is to allow God’s promises to flow into your life out of the unseen spiritual realm into the physical, tangible realm.
The Scriptures say: “God gives life and calls into being that which does not exist.”
But too many people go around thinking, “Well, I wish I was blessed. I wish I had favour.”
No, you must allow God’s Spirit to transform your mind and reprogram your thinking if you find yourself thinking like that.
It says in Psalms that God surrounds your life with His favour like a mighty shield. You may not realise it now, but God has already surrounded you with favour. All you need to do is get in agreement with God by declaring, “I do have favour.”
You cannot drag through the day thinking, “Why do I always get the short end of the stick? Why do I always have these bad breaks? Why me? Poor me…” When those discouraging thoughts come, act and speak in faith and declare God’s favour over your life.
Claim God’s love for you. Own God’s gift of forgiveness and salvation. God has already blessed you. He has already made you more than a conqueror. He has already surrounded your life with favour.
How do you tap into what God has already done?
Very simple: just act like you’re blessed, talk like you’re blessed, walk like you’re blessed, think like you’re blessed, smile like you’re blessed, dress like you’re blessed.
Put actions behind your faith, and one day you will see it become a reality in the physical as it is in the spiritual.
May light and peace fill your life.
